STATEMENT
My work explores how fossilized thought and creation/destruction cycles shape and form worlds over time. I scrape and sand intuitively until ghostly forms emerge from vestiges of built-up paint. From these sedimentary shapes I create personal narratives, drawing from the subconscious and playing with pattern recognition in order to create psychologically-charged landscapes with figures representing aspects of psyche. I am inspired by myths, poetry, and literature, the collapse of empires and civilizations, the threat of climate apocalypse, the structures found in architecture and nature, the fantasy films, illustrations, and text-based video games from my childhood, and my own perceptions, distorted and imaginative.
